Budgeting
An annual budget built with you, by month and by department or product line, with budget-versus-actual tracking every month.
T K Chandy & Associates provides virtual CFO services in Kochi for growing SMEs, family businesses and start-ups. Our chartered accountants act as your part-time finance head, preparing budgets and cash-flow forecasts, monthly MIS dashboards, lender and board reports and fundraising readiness, and overseeing your compliance calendar, at a fraction of the cost of a full-time CFO.

At a glance
Many owner-managed businesses in Kochi reach the same point. Sales are growing, the accountant keeps the books and files returns, but nobody owns the bigger financial questions: how much cash will we need in three months, which product actually makes money, can we take this loan, are we ready for an investor or a bank review?
A virtual CFO answers those questions without the cost of a full-time hire. With our virtual CFO services in Kochi, a senior chartered accountant from T K Chandy & Associates works with you on a part-time, ongoing basis: building the budget, forecasting cash, designing a monthly MIS dashboard, preparing information for banks and investors, controlling costs and keeping an eye on every statutory deadline. If your books need strengthening first, our accounts outsourcing team can keep them, so the CFO work rests on reliable numbers.

Outsourced CFO in Kochi
A virtual CFO is most useful at moments of growth or change. Typical clients in Ernakulam and Kerala include:
What the service covers
An annual budget built with you, by month and by department or product line, with budget-versus-actual tracking every month.
Rolling 13-week and 12-month cash forecasts that show shortfalls early and plan for GST, TDS, salaries, loan repayments and capital spending.
A monthly dashboard of the numbers that matter to you, such as margins, receivable days, inventory days, cash runway and staff cost per unit of revenue.
Projections, CMA data, stock statements and covenant reporting for your bankers, and preparation for renewal and review meetings.
A clean financial history, financial model, data room checklist and support during investor due diligence.
Review of spending, vendor contracts, pricing and product profitability to find costs that can be reduced or removed.
A single calendar for GST, TDS, income tax, ROC, PF and ESI, with checks that your team or advisers have filed on time.
Quarterly reporting packs for the board, partners or investors, with commentary on performance, risks and decisions needed.
Approval limits, payment controls and month-end close procedures that reduce errors and fraud risk as the team grows.
Choosing the right support
A virtual CFO sits between your accountant and a full-time finance head:
Records transactions, reconciles and files routine returns; looks at what has already happened
Can be engaged for a few days a month to plan, forecast, report and advise; looks forward and supports decisions
Not always needed until the business is large or complex enough to need a senior finance head every day
Listed companies, and public companies with paid-up capital of ₹10 crore or more, must appoint a whole-time CFO as key managerial personnel under section 203 of the Companies Act, 2013. A virtual CFO can support, but not replace, that statutory appointment.
Our process
Step01
We review your last two years' accounts, current books, banking arrangements, compliance status and how decisions are made today.
Step02
We agree what matters most for the next 12 months, such as cash, a loan, funding or margins, and fix the monthly time and fee in writing.
Step03
Chart of accounts, month-end close calendar and controls are tightened so that monthly numbers are reliable and on time.
Step04
We build the budget, the rolling cash forecast and your MIS dashboard, and agree who supplies each number.
Step05
A monthly meeting to review results against budget, update the forecast, and agree actions on cash, costs and compliance.
Step06
Board or partner packs, lender reporting, the next year's budget and support through audit and tax filing.

Getting started
For the diagnostic, please share:
Worked example
A family-owned food processing company near Kochi had grown to about ₹18 crore in sales, with a working capital limit from a bank and plans for a new production line. The owners saw profit in the accounts but were always short of cash.
Within two quarters the business had negotiated shorter credit terms with distributors, dropped one loss-making product and presented the bank with a complete, consistent proposal for the new line.
Fees and timing
The fee depends on the time committed each month, the size and complexity of the business, the number of entities, the reporting you need (board, bank or investor), whether a fundraise or loan is under way, and whether we also keep your books. We agree a fixed monthly fee in writing after the diagnostic, with one-off projects such as a financial model or due diligence support quoted separately.
The diagnostic usually takes two to three weeks. The first budget, cash forecast and MIS dashboard are normally in place within the first two months.

Talk to our teamA virtual CFO is a qualified finance professional who works with your business part-time, usually remotely and on a monthly retainer, to handle budgeting, cash-flow planning, reporting, lender relations and financial strategy without being a full-time employee.
An accountant records transactions, reconciles and files returns. A virtual CFO uses those numbers to plan ahead, forecast cash, set budgets, advise on pricing, costs and funding, and report to the board, banks or investors.
Common triggers are rapid growth, recurring cash shortages, a new bank loan or limit renewal, preparing for investors, adding a second location or entity, or when owners want reliable monthly numbers to make decisions.
Yes. Start-ups often use a virtual CFO to build the financial model, track burn and runway, keep compliance clean and prepare for investor due diligence, before they can justify a full-time finance head.
There is no standard rate. The fee depends on the time needed each month, business size, number of entities and reporting required. We agree a fixed monthly fee in writing after a short diagnostic.
Listed companies and public companies with paid-up capital of ₹10 crore or more must appoint a whole-time CFO as key managerial personnel under section 203. Most private companies have no such requirement and can use a virtual CFO.
Typically a dashboard with profit, margins, cash position, receivables, payables and inventory, budget versus actual, an updated cash forecast and a short note on actions, followed by a review meeting.
Yes. A virtual CFO prepares projections, CMA data and supporting information, attends bank meetings with you, and keeps covenant and stock statement reporting up to date after the loan is sanctioned.
It is a week-by-week projection of cash receipts and payments for the next quarter. It shows when cash will be tight, so you can chase collections, delay spending or arrange finance in time.
Yes, as needed. Most work is done remotely, with monthly review meetings at your premises in Ernakulam or at our Kakkanad office, and more frequent visits during budgeting or fundraising.
Generally no. Auditors are restricted from providing management and accounting services to the companies they audit, and doing so affects independence. If we act as your virtual CFO, another firm should audit you.
A virtual CFO oversees the compliance calendar and checks that filings are made on time. The filings themselves can be done by our tax and ROC teams or by your existing advisers.
Most engagements run for at least a year, since budgeting, forecasting and reporting improve over several cycles. Shorter projects, such as a loan proposal or fundraising support, can be agreed separately.
