Financial systems
Chart of accounts, month-end close, reporting formats, approval limits and the flow of documents between sales, purchase, stores and accounts.
T K Chandy & Associates provides management consultancy in Kochi for SMEs, family businesses, start-ups and NGOs. Our chartered accountants design financial, costing and internal control systems, prepare accounting manuals and feasibility studies, advise on business restructuring, family business structuring and succession, cost reduction, and guide MSMEs on government schemes.

At a glance
Most businesses do not need a large consulting team. They need someone who understands their numbers to look at one problem properly: why margins are falling, whether a new unit will pay back, how to bring three family members into the business without conflict, or why the accounts team cannot close the month on time.
Management consultancy at T K Chandy & Associates is built on that kind of focused, practical work. Our chartered accountants in Kakkanad design and introduce financial, costing and internal control systems, write accounting manuals, prepare feasibility studies, advise on business restructuring and family business succession, run cost reduction reviews and help MSMEs use the government schemes they are entitled to. Because the same firm advises on corporate tax, company law and valuation, our recommendations come with their tax and legal consequences already worked out.

What we do
Chart of accounts, month-end close, reporting formats, approval limits and the flow of documents between sales, purchase, stores and accounts.
Product, job, project or service costing that shows the real cost and margin of what you sell, with overhead allocation that managers understand.
Risk-based controls over cash, purchases, inventory, payroll and sales, documented as a control matrix your team and auditors can follow.
Written policies and procedures for accounting, expenses, fixed assets and inventory, so work stays consistent when staff change.
Market, technical and financial assessment of a new project or expansion, with projections, break-even, payback and sensitivity analysis.
Conversions, demergers, holding structures and group simplification, with the tax, stamp duty and company law effects mapped out.
Ownership and management structures, a family charter, roles for the next generation and a succession plan worked out with your legal advisers.
Spend analysis, vendor and contract review, process waste and pricing review, with a savings plan and tracking.
Udyam registration, credit guarantee cover, subsidy and incentive schemes, delayed payment remedies and the documentation each requires.
MSME classification
MSME status decides which schemes and protections you can use. From 1 April 2025, enterprises are classified on both investment in plant and machinery or equipment and turnover:
Registration is online through the Udyam portal of the Ministry of MSME. Classification is based on the data in your income tax and GST records, so those filings need to be accurate.
MSME schemes
Kerala has a large MSME sector, yet many enterprises do not use the support available to them. We help you identify and apply for what fits:
Scheme terms change often, so we check the current guidelines on the official portal before you apply. For loan applications, see our project reports and CMA service.
Our process
Step01
We understand the problem, the decision you need to make and the timeline, and tell you honestly whether we are the right firm for it.
Step02
A written scope with deliverables, timeline and a fixed fee, so you know exactly what you will receive.
Step03
We study your accounts, processes and documents, interview key people and visit your premises where needed.
Step04
A clear report with options, numbers, risks and our recommendation, discussed with you before it is finalised.
Step05
We help introduce the new system, manual or structure, train your team and work with your lawyers, bankers or IT vendors.
Step06
A review after a few months to check the change is working and adjust where needed.

Getting started
Depending on the assignment, we usually start with:
Worked example
A second-generation family business in Ernakulam ran a hardware distribution firm and a small manufacturing unit, both as partnership firms, with three siblings as partners and their children starting to join.
The family chose a phased conversion, the manufacturing unit stopped two loss-making product lines identified by the costing, and month-end reporting moved from annual to monthly.
Fees and timing
Each assignment is priced separately. The fee depends on the type and scope of the work, the size and number of entities, the condition of your records, the number of locations to visit, whether implementation support is included and the timeline. We agree a fixed fee in writing after the initial discussion and a review of your documents.
A focused assignment such as an accounting manual or cost review usually takes four to eight weeks. Restructuring and succession work runs longer because it depends on family decisions, legal documentation and approvals.

Short answers to the questions clients in Kochi ask us most. Still unsure?
Talk to our teamA management consultant studies a specific problem, such as falling margins, weak controls, a new project or a family transition, and recommends practical changes. A CA firm also works out the tax, accounting and legal effects of those changes and helps put them in place.
Chartered accountants understand your financial statements, tax position and compliance obligations, so their advice on systems, costing, restructuring and succession is grounded in your actual numbers and legal requirements.
An accounting manual sets out your accounting policies, approval limits and procedures for recording transactions. It is useful for any business with more than a few accounts staff, multiple locations or plans for audit, funding or due diligence.
A feasibility study covers market demand, technical requirements, project cost, means of finance, projected profit and cash flow, break-even, payback and risks, so you and your bank can decide whether to proceed.
Succession planning involves agreeing who will own and who will manage the business, documenting roles and exit rules in a family charter, choosing a suitable legal structure and planning the tax-efficient transfer of ownership with your legal advisers.
It depends on liability, funding plans, succession, compliance cost and tax. We compare the options for your situation, including the conditions for tax-neutral conversion and the ongoing compliance of each structure.
Micro enterprises have investment up to ₹2.5 crore and turnover up to ₹10 crore; small enterprises up to ₹25 crore and ₹100 crore; medium enterprises up to ₹125 crore and ₹500 crore.
Registration is done online on the Ministry of MSME's Udyam Registration portal using the Aadhaar of the proprietor, partner or authorised signatory and the enterprise's PAN. There is no government fee for registration.
From 1 April 2025, the maximum guarantee cover under the CGTMSE scheme is ₹10 crore per borrower for eligible micro and small enterprise loans, up from ₹5 crore.
Under the MSMED Act, micro and small suppliers must be paid within the agreed period, not exceeding 45 days, failing which the buyer owes compound interest. The supplier can file a case on the MSME Samadhaan portal for reference to the facilitation council.
A cost review analyses spending by category, vendor and process, compares it with what the business actually needs, and identifies savings in purchasing, overheads, wastage and pricing, with a plan to track the savings.
Yes. We design financial manuals, approval limits, fund-wise accounting and controls over cash and grants for NGOs, trusts and societies, which also helps with donor audits and reporting.
Focused assignments such as an accounting manual, costing system or cost review usually take four to eight weeks. Restructuring and succession assignments take longer, depending on family decisions and legal approvals.
